The Geneva Casebolt College of Music, Arts, and Letters at Southwest Baptist University is pleased to include Opera in its prestigious music department. With this program, students get to experience a unique genre of music and its important history, as well as uncover the secrets of the stage and all that goes into making an elaborate performance.
This project and production goes much further than the stage.
Senior Seth Wally (pictured below, left) says, "SBU's Opera Theatre program gives me the opportunity to learn what it really means to perform opera and musical theatre. The program has been immensely helpful in preparing me for working in the professional theatre world."
Emily Jaynes, also a senior, (pictured above, right) agrees: "Opera has been [one of] the most challenging, uncomfortable, yet fun, valuable, and rewarding experiences in my singing career. Opera Workshop is the real-life application of what vocalists are being taught in lessons at SBU."
