CatFight Giving Challenge FAQ

What is the Bank of Bolivar CatFight Giving Challenge?

This is a giving challenge between Southwest Baptist University and Drury University to see which university can raise the most money for the Annual Scholarship Fund. The challenge lasts for 13 days, beginning on November 1st and culminating on November 14th with the big basketball games featuring the Bearcats and Panthers. Every gift made to the Annual Scholarship Fund during the giving window counts toward the total raised.

What is the Annual Scholarship Fund?

The Annual Scholarship Fund provides students with institutional aid university-wide. This fund exists to provide life-changing, Christian education at SBU for those students with great potential and great financial need.

How does Bank of Bolivar support the CatFight?

Bank of Bolivar will make a $2,000 donation to the winning school and a $500 donation to the runner-up. Thank you, Bank of Bolivar, for your support!

How has SBU done in recent years in the Bank of Bolivar CatFight Giving Challenge?

SBU won in 2014 and 2015, and Drury won in 2016. Let’s reclaim the title this year!

What is the Dorm Challenge?

Each dorm is competing to see who can have the most donors for the CatFight Giving Challenge.

What does my donation support?

Your donation supports both the CatFight Giving Challenge and the Dorm Challenge if you make your CatFight gift on one of the dorm pages located here. Therefore, your donation will enhance the Annual Scholarship Fund.

How do the dorms benefit from my gift?

2 ways!

As stated earlier, the Annual Scholarship Fund is used to help students university-wide. So your gift truly does make an impact in the lives of SBU students.

Also, the winning dorm receives a $1,000 prize!

How are the goals for the dorms determined?

The goals are based on the number of residents.

How exactly is the winner calculated?

The winner is based on the percentage achieved of the goal. Here’s an example:

Big Dorm A: 125 donors out of a goal of 155 donors. They reached 81% of their goal.

Small Dorm B: 48 donors out of a goal of 50 donors. They reached 96% of their goal.

Congratulations, Dorm B! You are the winner!

Can we achieve more than 100% of our goal?

Absolutely!

What if there is a tie?

All dorms tied for first place will select a representative to participate in a timed free-throw shooting competition during the men’s halftime. The winner of this tiebreaker will win the $1,000 for his or her dorm.

So the winning dorm receives $1,000. How will this be used?

Within specific guidelines, the dorms have chosen how they will use the prize money. Each dorm’s page explains what they will do if they win.

Can I make multiple gifts to the same dorm?

Yes, we appreciate you making multiple gifts to the same dorm. However, each household will only be counted once for the Dorm Challenge.

Can I make multiple gifts to different dorms?

Yes. Each time you make a gift to a dorm, you will increase the dorm’s total donors by 1. For example: husband can make a gift to Dorm A, wife to Dorm B, and make a gift to Dorm C where you child lives. Each gift will count once. See above question regarding multiple gifts to the same dorm.
